Sustainability means the ability to be sustained, to continue over a period of time. In an environmental sense, it means causing little or no damage to the environment, thus able to keep going for a long time. It is a broad umbrella term which can cover animal welfare, food production, energy, water, waste, and many more areas.
In Sustainable Aylesbury, we focus on the environmental sense of sustainability, but also how our town can be sustained: how it can continue and thrive, without its sense of community and togetherness being depleted. Community groups, local shops, events and local organisations – which foster fellowship and keep resources within our local area – are essential for a sustainable town.
