Biographical Info

Local voluntary organisation focusing on all aspects of nature conservation.  The Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust (BBOWT) is one of 46 Wildlife Trusts working across the UK, aiming to make the local area rich in wildlife and protect special places for generations to come.

Their vision is an environment rich in wildlife, valued by all.  Their mission is to create at Living Landscape across our towns, cities and countryside, and to inspire communities to act for nature.  They are raising awareness, campaigning and fighting for the recognition of the climate and nature emergency.

Bringing together local authorities and organisations from across the public, private, health and education sectors, as well as conservation and community organisations to champion the value of the environment in decision-making. They encourage environmental protection and improvement for multiple benefits: for the environment, businesses and the economy, and the health and wellbeing of communities across Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes.   The NEP promotes the value of the natural environment in decision making at all levels and takes a strategic view to the challenges and opportunities facing nature. They are working alongside the Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) and the health and wellbeing boards to embed the natural environment in growth, economic & health strategies, and develop interventions and programmes for delivery.

They also have a great resource, Bucks Buzzing, which supports local people, schools, and groups to help pollinators.

We work with communities to provide practical habitat management in Bucks and the wider Chilterns. We manage 13 nature reserves for Buckinghamshire Council in the Wycombe area and help a range of conservation and local authority partners with habitat management in their woodlands, chalk grassland, commons, ponds and chalk streams. This is all achieved with the help of volunteers – people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, plus community organisations, charities, social enterprises, schools, colleges and other partners all have key roles too.

A sustainably run visitor attraction and venue that’s located in beautiful open countryside where there’s plenty of space to explore. Most of the farm is laid out to paddocks for rare breed farm animals and includes our Animal Barn and Pets’ Corner where visitors can meet the animals at close quarters.

The site includes a nature trail, outdoor and indoor children’s play areas, restaurant (supplied by local producers and from their own walled garden and orchard, where they grow heritage fruit and vegetables). A purpose built events room is also available for private and corporate hire.

They aim to promote sustainable living, and showcase this through their own renewable energy systems (biomass heating system and solar panels), waste management (rainwater harvesting to supply water for flushing toilets, composting, aquaponics), sustainable agricultural practices and supporting and supplying local businesses.
