Biographical Info

Local voluntary organisation focusing on all aspects of nature conservation.  The Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust (BBOWT) is one of 46 Wildlife Trusts working across the UK, aiming to make the local area rich in wildlife and protect special places for generations to come.

Their vision is an environment rich in wildlife, valued by all.  Their mission is to create at Living Landscape across our towns, cities and countryside, and to inspire communities to act for nature.  They are raising awareness, campaigning and fighting for the recognition of the climate and nature emergency.

Bringing together local authorities and organisations from across the public, private, health and education sectors, as well as conservation and community organisations to champion the value of the environment in decision-making. They encourage environmental protection and improvement for multiple benefits: for the environment, businesses and the economy, and the health and wellbeing of communities across Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes.   The NEP promotes the value of the natural environment in decision making at all levels and takes a strategic view to the challenges and opportunities facing nature. They are working alongside the Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) and the health and wellbeing boards to embed the natural environment in growth, economic & health strategies, and develop interventions and programmes for delivery.

They also have a great resource, Bucks Buzzing, which supports local people, schools, and groups to help pollinators.

Biographical Info

Buckinghamshire Culture has emerged in response to a need to better connect, celebrate and enhance the creative and cultural organisations in Buckinghamshire and the great work that they do. 

In 2018, spearheaded by Bucks County Council, they collectively started work on a Cultural Strategy for the county, which outlined the need for a new cultural partnership to take this work forward.  Their partnership is made up of representatives from creative and cultural organisations, higher and further education, schools, economy and growth, place-making and health and wellbeing alongside artists and museum professionals.

They aim to:

  • Increase opportunities for arts and cultural experiences and participation for everyone
  • Connect and build the creative and cultural sector, developing partnerships and joint working
  • Attract investment and funding for joint projects
  • Build capacity and enhance sustainability for the sector
  • Raise the profile of creativity and culture in Buckinghamshire and its relevance to our daily lives
  • Ensure creativity and culture enhance the quality of all our places

Buckmoorend Farm is a small, family run farm surrounded by natural woodland and nestled in the beautiful Chiltern Hills. It is part of the Chequers Estate. 

They rear their animals on barley grown on the farm, and limit the use of chemicals wherever possible, so consumers can enjoy nutritious food with confidence that it has been produced in an environmentally and socially responsible way.  Their farming methods encompass good rotation of crops, non-intensive meat production, high standards of animal welfare and rotational grazing that enriches the environment.

They sell their own meats (they are involved in the whole chain, from farm to fork), as well as items from carefully selected local producers.

An umbrella organisation enabling all Bucks organisations and groups concerned about the Climate Crisis and Biodiversity Loss, to come together as one powerful voice, calling on Bucks Council to ACT NOW.  They are pushing for all local election candidates to sign up to a Climate Action Pledge, in which the candidate acknowledges a Climate Emergency and promises to work to address this if elected to the Council.
