Biographical Info

Moogies is a community of local village pubs around the Aylesbury Vale area.  They include The Black Boy in Oving, The Eight Bells in Long Crendon, The Russell Arms in Butlers Cross, and The Dinton Hermit in Ford.

“We are committed to operating in as sustainably and responsibly as possible, consciously placing the welfare of our customers, staff, communities & the environment at the forefront of everything we do. We call this our Being Mindful commitment. Whilst we know there is still a long way to go, we have made a mindful start and are proud of what we have already achieved.”

This local pub group is making a number of commitments to operating more sustainably – like eliminating single-use plastic, switching suppliers to avoid unnecessary packaging, and using local, seasonal produce. They really seem to be focused on building and supporting the community too, including through running social events and supporting charities in the area.  We attended some of their outdoor music events last year and they were the highlights of the summer!

“Moogies was established in 2013 to acquire existing pubs & restaurants that were underperforming or closed & through investment, turn them into sustainable businesses, recognised & valued by the communities they serve. The company is 100% privately owned, operated & financed, allowing us to make all decisions in the best interest of the venues, our customers & the people who work for us.”

More information on their sustainability pledges is available on their website at https://www.therussellarms.co.uk/being-mindful/.
